MG Hector, the popular SUV from MG Motor India, has achieved a remarkable milestone as it commemorates its 5-year anniversary in the country.
In collaboration with Mountain Goat, MG Hector secured the prestigious “Fastest Drive from the Lowest to the Highest Altitude on Road” title in the India Book of Records. The expedition began in Kuttanad, Kerala, at 1:30 p.m. on July 27, 2024, and concluded at Umling La, Ladakh, at 8:28 a.m. on July 30, 2024. The journey covered an impressive 3,846 kilometers in just 66 hours and 58 minutes, making MG Hector the fastest SUV to achieve this feat.
Engineered to suit Indian road conditions, the SUV crossed the 25,000-unit mark within a year of its launch and reached the 50,000-unit milestone by February 2021, with the 50,000th Hector being manufactured by an all-women crew at MG’s Halol plant in Vadodara, Gujarat.
Built with high-strength steel, a hot-stamped B pillar, thick door panels, and roll-formed tubular steel doors, the Hector is designed to enhance passenger safety. Key safety features include six airbags, a 360-degree HD camera, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Assist Control (HAC), all four-wheel disc brakes, a 3-point seat belt for all seats, electric parking brake (EPB), and front parking sensors. The SUV also boasts Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) and Auto Turn Indicators, ensuring a safe and comfortable driving experience.
MG Hector offers India's largest 35.56 cm (14-inch) HD portrait infotainment system with a brand-new user interface. It also features a first-in-segment Digital Bluetooth® Key and Key Sharing capability, along with over 75 connected features, including 100 voice commands and navigation voice guidance in five Indian languages. The SUV’s premium audio system by Infinity, enabled with wireless Android Auto & Apple Carplay, delivers an immersive 360-degree sound experience. With a striking exterior, refined interiors, and segment-leading offerings, the MG Hector now starts at a price of INR 13.99 Lakh (ex-showroom).
