Meta and the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) have unveiled a joint whitepaper and playbook at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, highlighting the transformative impact of digital adoption on India’s automotive sector. The findings offer a blueprint for leveraging digital tools to revolutionize the operations of auto OEMs and dealerships nationwide.
Initially targeting 3,000 dealerships, the programme surpassed expectations by upskilling over 6,000 additional dealers, achieving a total of 10,000 upskilled professionals. The initiative has driven a threefold increase in dealer digitization, with a 32% improvement in lead generation efficiency.
C S Vigneshwar, President of FADA, emphasised the partnership’s role in bridging the digital gap in automotive retail. “Our collaboration with Meta has strengthened customer relationships and driven growth through innovative tools like AI, Reels, and WhatsApp. By upskilling 10,000 dealers, we’ve not only met but exceeded our goals. We are committed to scaling this partnership to make India’s dealers future-ready,” he said.
Saugato Bhowmik, Director of Auto, CPG, and D2C for Meta India, announced a plan to upskill 5,000 more dealers in the next two years. “Meta’s hyperlocal solutions have already transformed the digital presence of thousands of dealers, improving lead generation and driving sales. We are excited to deepen our collaboration with FADA and deliver greater innovation,” he stated.
Hyundai Motor India Limited and Mahindra and Mahindra Limited shared success stories from the programme. Hyundai reported a 37% growth in sales and a 29% reduction in cost per retail in the second half of 2024, thanks to Meta’s hyperlocal programme. Mahindra leveraged Meta’s apps for launch campaigns, achieving a 29% increase in engagement for the XUV 3XO and record-breaking results for the Thar ROXX launch.
Key findings from the whitepaper underline Meta’s role in influencing buyer decisions:
- 72% of new automotive buyers discovered brands through Meta platforms.
- 48% used WhatsApp to connect with dealerships, making it the preferred communication channel.
- 72% found Instagram Reels by creators helpful for vehicle evaluation.
Meta’s AI-powered advertising solutions, such as Advantage+ Placements, have proven effective in optimizing lead costs and improving lead volumes for OEMs like Hyundai India.
As the automotive industry increasingly embraces digital transformation, Meta and FADA’s partnership is poised to empower thousands of dealerships, enhance customer experiences, and drive sustainable growth in India’s auto sector. Looking ahead, the programme aims to build on its success, ensuring dealers nationwide remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
