Mercedes-Benz has announced the opening of bookings for three of its exclusive top-end vehicles (TEV), including the AMG G 63 and Maybach GLS 600, based on the limited additional production it received, owing to its strategic importance as an emerging market.

A press release from the company noted that the bookings will be exclusively open for existing ‘Mercedes-Benz customers only for the first week, prior to other customers.

Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, noted that the top-end vehicle is core to Mercedes-Benz’s strategy of driving desire, and the segment remains a key focus area with a double-digit growth forecast.

He added that the company aims to continue new model introductions in this segment from Mercedes-Benz’s global portfolio.

With a 69% YoY growth, the TEV segment was Mercedes-Benz India’s highest-growing segment in CY22. The segment remains a strong focus area for the company in CY23, with more than half of the upcoming launches in 2023 planned for the TEV segment.

The TEV segment of the vehicle maker comprises top-end vehicles like the AMG E 53 cabriolet, AMG G 63, GLS Maybach, S-Class, S-Class Maybach, and the EQS luxury EV.

Besides, the company also aims to drive brand desirability, which is aligned with Mercedes-Benz’s global goal of ‘building the world’s most desirable cars’.

While the company expects the waiting period for these top-end vehicles to significantly reduce by up to 6-10 months, depending on the mode, the waiting period for the AMG G63 is now reduced to 12-16 months from earlier 24-36 months. The waiting period for the GLS Maybach 600 is now reduced to eight months for the single colour and 8-10 months for the dual-tone colour.
