Mercedes-Benz India has announced that it has concluded the FY23 with a growth of 37% YoY in retail, selling 16,497 units. The carmaker also achieved its best-ever Q1, retailing 4,697 units in Q1CY23, growing by 17% YoY, supported by the strong desire for its products and increasing EV penetration.
A press release from the company noted that the highlight of Q1CY23 sales was the top-end-luxury vehicle portfolio growth at 107%, comprising the GLS, S-Class, EQS, AMG, S-Class Maybach and GLS Maybach. The core sedan portfolio, comprising the C-Class and E-Class LWB, grew by 27%, comprising 30% of the company’s Q1CY23 volumes. The seamless omnichannel luxury experience created through the ‘direct to customer’ sales model- ROTF (Retail of the Future) resulted in an enhanced customer experience.
In addition to announcing its FY23 results, the German carmaker launched the AMG GT 63 E Performance, the company’s most powerful product in the AMG portfolio. The four-door coupe powered by a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo, capable of developing 470 kW, with an additional electric motor at the rear axle with 150 kW output, delivers 1,470 Nm of torque. The vehicle maker claims the product is electronically limited to 316 kmph, achieving 0-100 kmph in 2.9 seconds. Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team's hybrid racing cars have inspired the Ultra-light lithium-ion battery technology.
The AMG GT 63 E Performance gets seven AMG Dynamic Select drive modes ranging from highly efficient to highly dynamic. Moreover, the vehicle can also be driven on electric power alone.
Santosh Iyer, MD, Mercedes-Benz India, noted that the E Performance will transition the performance DNA of AMG into an electrified future, firmly establishing Mercedes-AMG as the ‘performance brand of the future’ for these customers.
“This exquisite performance machine is entirely developed by our engineers in Affalterbach, offering a fascinating level of driving dynamics, rightly bearing AMG’s F1-inspired new technology label, E Performance. With this vehicle, we are embracing new target groups for AMG,” he added.
