German car manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz, increased its SUV portfolio to 11 by introducing the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ Coupé. The AMG GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ Coupé is the 12th AMG model available for enthusiasts in India. The company says that the AMG portfolio remains the fastest-growing segment, and it remained the highest growing segment for Mercedes-Benz in H1 2021. Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, “Fascinating products supported by a wide retail network of exclusive AMG Performance Centres and complemented by specific service programmes for the discerning customers have ensured our AMG strategy remains customer-centric.” He believes that the products together with the initiatives have helped the company in cementing their position as the most preferred luxury performance brand in the market today.” “Kitted out with the specific AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, the new 63 S 4MATIC+ Coupe is a capable off-roader and an outstanding instance of Performance Luxury perfected by AMG,” Schwenk further added. The new AMG comes with a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine, producing 612 hp and 850 Nm of torque at 2500-4500 rpm. It is coupled with an EQ boost starter-alternator and a 48-volt on-board electrical system which adds on an additional 22 hp of output plus 250 Nm of torque. Mercedes-AMG has equipped its V8 engine with cylinder deactivation, which in the ‘Comfort’ drive setting disengages two, three, five and eight cylinders of the engine between 1,000 to 3,250 rpm. This ensures for an increased fuel economy efficiency, and also, the transition between the cylinders is immediate, fast and torque-neutral. The engine is mated to the speedshift TCT 9G transmission, which the company says is tailored to the product. This enables extremely short shift times and fast multiple downshifts and delivers an incredibly emotive gearshifting experience thanks to the double-declutching function. The new car comes with a 48V active roll stabilisation system, which ensures better ride and handling. The system reduces body roll when cornering and allows more precise tuning of the cornering and load cycle properties. Coming with 22-inch AMG-alloy wheels, the car is instantly noticeable by its large Pan Americana grille, which is a signature for the 63 AMGs. In addition, it gets chrome-finished front splitter and huge air intakes. At the back, it gets the typical quad-exhaust system with a black air diffuser at the bottom. Running along the width of the car is a silver chrome strip that accentuate the vehicle’s width. The car gets nappa leather seats with AMG badging. The three-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel is wrapped in full Dinamica micro-fibre with aluminum shift paddles. Customers can further customise the interior, including carbon fibre trim elements, to suit their tastes. Launched at a price tag of INR 2.07 crore ex-showroom India, the car is offered with two service packages. The compact package starts at INR 96,700 for two years, while the compact plus starts at INR 4,96,000 for three years or 30,000 kms.
