Offered as a completely built unit, the AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ comes with a WLTP range ranging from 529 to 586 km, making it the longest range EV in India.


AMG EQS 53 4Matic+

In a bid to introduce electrification in the luxury performance segment, Mercedes-Benz India on Wednesday announced the launch of the second EV product in the market, Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ at INR 2.45 crore, ex-showroom, India.

Finding its way through the CBU route, the AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ comes with a WLTP range ranging from 529 to 586 km, making it the longest range EV in India.

At the front, the performance model is distinguishable by the large pan Americana fake grille, while the side profile features 21-inch light-alloy wheels along with side air intakes, and the rear features a reworked diffuser and given rear spoiler.

Underpinning Mercedes-Benz’s EQ platform and featuring the Dynamic Plus pack as standard, the new performance EV features front, and rear axles are permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM) that produce a combined output of 761 hp in RACE START mode with boost function and maximum motor torque up to 1,020 Nm, a press release from the carmaker said.

It added that the EQS 53 packs a 400V, 107.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, which can charge at speeds of up to 200kW with a fast charger.

While on the chassis side, it gets multi-link front and rear suspension along with AMG’s Ride Control+ air suspension, electronically controlled active dampers and rear-axle steering.

Meanwhile, the EQS 53 AMG is the first product from the stables of Mercedes-Benz to feature the MBUX Hyperscreen. This includes a 12.3-inch display for each - driver and the passenger, while the infotainment screen stretches to 17.7 inches. When combined, the whole system measures 56 inches in width and features 24GB of RAM and eight CPUs.

Other notable features from the interior include carbon fibre trim, an alcantara finish on the door pads and the steering wheel, a 64-colour ambient lighting system, a Burmester sound system, massaging seats, and optional Nappa leather. 

Additionally, the car also features new AMG modes available as part of the standard EQS Sound Experience system and includes a performance setting for Dynamic Plus models that adds 'event sounds' for all vehicle functions.

Building Charging Network

An official statement from Mercedes-Benz India stated that with an investment of INR 15 crore along with its franchise partners, the carmaker aims to build the largest ‘Ultra-fast charging network’ by a luxury carmaker, covering 80% of India by the end of 2022.

It added that the ‘Ultra-fast charging network’ will be exclusive to Mercedes-Benz customers round the clock; customers can avail of this network free of cost, only for the first year.
