Mercedes-Benz has reached a milestone in automated driving technology with its updated DRIVE PILOT system, now certified by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority. Set to hit the market in early 2025, DRIVE PILOT becomes the world’s fastest certified SAE Level-3 driving system for production vehicles, enabling conditional automation up to 95 km/h on Germany’s expansive Autobahn network.

Available as an optional feature on the S-Class and EQS luxury saloons, the system is priced from €5,950 (including VAT) and offers seamless updates for existing vehicles, either over-the-air or via workshops. With a robust redundant system architecture and over 35 sensors, including LiDAR, the system ensures safety and precision in real-time environmental detection. This step marks a significant move towards the future of autonomous driving, with Mercedes-Benz committed to pushing the boundaries of speed, comfort, and public trust in automated mobility solutions.
