Mercedes-Benz R&D India, BITS Pilani Sign Five-Year Research Agreement

This collaboration aims to build intellectual property in pioneering technology solutions and promote academic collaboration for higher education and projects.

In a bid to advance technology research and foster innovation, Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) has signed a five-year Master Research Agreement (MRA) with Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani.

The five-year MRA between MBRDI and BITS Pilani represents a significant commitment to advancing technology research and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. This partnership is set to drive forward industry-academia collaboration, benefiting both institutions and contributing to societal progress through pioneering technological solutions. Besides, it will focus on exploring and developing breakthrough technologies in the mobility sector. This includes joint R&D projects, academic and professional events, and facilitating the exchange of researchers and students. Additionally, both parties will share lab facilities, advise research students, secure co-funding, publish papers, and protect intellectual property.

Strengthening Digital Capabilities

The collaboration is designed to enhance digital capabilities within India's talent pool and facilitate streamlined research efforts. Areas of research will include software development with a focus on data and AI, electric mobility, and transformative technologies such as generative AI. Several notable projects are already underway, guided by Prof Poonam Goyal, Prof Amit R Singh, and Prof Navneet Goyal.
