Mercedes-Benz India marked a significant stride in the luxury SUV segment with the launch of two highly anticipated models – the new GLA SUV and the performance-oriented AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé. These additions to the extensive SUV portfolio were accompanied by the unveiling of the Concept EQG, underscoring the brand's commitment to an all-electric future.
GLA
The new GLA SUV, celebrating a decade in India with over 14,000 units on the road, is positioned as a crucial entry point into Mercedes-Benz's coveted SUV family. It is available in three variants – GLA 200, GLA 220d 4MATIC, and GLA 220d 4MATIC AMG Line. With introductory prices starting at INR 50.50 lakh, the GLA boasts powerful engines and advanced safety features.
Upgrades to the GLA include Blind Spot Assist, a 360-degree camera, KEYLESS-GO Comfort Package, and the latest-generation MBUX NTG7. The vehicle is powered by a refined 4-cylinder 1950 cc engine, with the GLA 220d 4MATIC offering the most potent diesel in its segment.
Mercedes-Benz has introduced the 4MATIC variant even in the Progressive Line, enhancing the GLA's off-roading capabilities. The SUV comes with a comprehensive 8-year warranty and maintenance on the engine and transmission.
To further enhance the GLA's accessibility, Mercedes-Benz offers innovative financial solutions under Star Agility+, featuring a 4-year tenure with a flexible downpayment of INR 7 lakh, INR 60,000 EMI, and a 67% assured buyback value.
AMG GLE 53
Catering to performance enthusiasts, Mercedes-Benz launched the AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé, a stylish addition to the Mercedes-AMG SUV portfolio. Priced starting at INR 1.85 crore, the performance SUV Coupé boasts customization options with over 7,000 combinations, allowing customers to create their unique vehicle.
The AMG GLE 53 features an AMG-inspired inline 6-cylinder engine with twin turbocharging and an additional electric compressor, propelling it from 0-100 in just 5 seconds. It includes advanced features such as AMG DYNAMIC SELECT, a variable exhaust system, customizable Head-up display, and climatized – lumbar supported front seats. Optional extras include AMG Track Pace, Acoustic Comfort Package, Guard 360-degree vehicle protection, and AMG High-Performance Braking.
Concept EQG
Mercedes-Benz India unveiled the Concept EQG, a near-production version of the iconic G wagon, electrified to align with sustainability goals. This underscores the brand's aggressive BEV roadmap for India and aims to inspire Mercedes-Benz customers to transition to electric mobility.
Visually, the Concept EQG combines the striking look of the G-Class with design elements characteristic of Mercedes-Benz’s EV models. The Concept EQG's unveiling precedes the launch of the EQG, signalling Mercedes-Benz's readiness to embrace an all-electric future in India.
