Mercedes-Benz India has announced a significant leadership transition in its Finance & Controlling division, effective 1st January 2025.
Ozer, currently Member of the Board of Management and Head of Finance & Controlling at Mercedes-Benz Otomotiv Turkey, has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Mercedes-Benz India. Emrah is also set to join the Board of Mercedes-Benz India as Executive Director in due course. He succeeds Evren Cakabey, who has assumed the role of Executive Director & CFO at Mercedes-Benz G GmbH, Austria, starting 1st January 2025.
Announcing the organizational change, Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, stated, “We are excited to welcome Emrah Ozer to Mercedes-Benz India as the Chief Financial Officer and benefit from his rich expertise in managing international finance, business modelling, and investor relations. Emrah’s diverse financial experience and proven track record make him the ideal leader to sustain and amplify Mercedes-Benz’s growth momentum in India.”
Santosh Iyer also expressed gratitude to Evren Cakabey for her exceptional contributions during her tenure: “Evren played a pivotal role in driving profitable growth in India, navigating economic challenges, and evolving our EV and localisation strategies. Her leadership in implementing the ‘Retail of the Future’ model and fostering Diversity & Inclusion initiatives has left a lasting impact. We wish her continued success in Austria.”
With over two decades of experience in finance and controlling, Ozer brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. His previous roles include Head of Finance & Controlling at Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Benz AG, and smart, where he was responsible for India and the NAFTA region.
Ozer holds a Master’s Diploma in Economics from the University of Wilhelmshaven, Germany, and began his career at smart GmbH in Stuttgart in 2002. Over the years, he has taken on leadership roles across key markets, including Turkey, India, and North America, with notable achievements in optimizing business performance and financial strategies.

During her tenure as CFO of Mercedes-Benz India, Evren Cakabey was instrumental in ensuring financial stability, developing cost-efficient localisation strategies, and advancing the company’s EV roadmap. Her leadership in diversity and inclusion initiatives further solidified her reputation as a people-focused and strategic leader.
