Mercedes-Benz has commenced local production of its highly anticipated all-new Long Wheelbase (LWB) E-Class at its state-of-the-art facility in Chakan, Pune.
The all-new LWB E-Class, now in its sixth generation, is set to make its grand debut in India on October 9, 2024. Touted as the most advanced E-Class to date, the vehicle promises to set new standards in the luxury car segment with its opulent cabin, cutting-edge personalization options, and state-of-the-art safety features.
Vyankatesh Kulkarni, Executive Director and Head of Operations, Mercedes-Benz India, said, “The start of local production of the New Long Wheelbase E-Class is an important milestone. We have further deepened our localisation footprint by sourcing various commodities from India, which aligns with our dedication to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.”
The production process at Mercedes-Benz India follows stringent global quality standards and benefits from the seamless exchange of expertise with the ‘E-Class production competence centre’ in Sindelfingen, Germany. The local production integrates advanced digital and customisation processes, ensuring that each vehicle rolling off the production line meets Mercedes-Benz’s benchmark for quality and precision.
The new LWB E-Class boasts innovative features, such as an MBUX Super-screen, which provides passengers with a personal display area for gaming, TV, and video streaming. Additionally, the car is equipped with a center airbag designed to protect occupants during a side collision, reinforcing Mercedes-Benz’s focus on safety.
With its focus on precision, automation, and high-end technology, the local production of the LWB E-Class reflects Mercedes-Benz’s evolving role in India’s automotive industry, bolstered by a robust supply chain that connects regions across the world to India.
