Mercedes-Benz India recorded its best-ever Q3 sales performance and also concluded highest-ever sales in its history for the Jan-Sep period.
At the launch of the all-new Long Wheelbase (LWB) E-Class in Mumbai today, Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, said, the company has achieved its highest-ever Q3 sales of 5,117 units, reflecting a 21% year-on-year growth.
Speaking to Mobility Outlook, Iyer conveyed strong optimism that the company is well-positioned to surpass its CY23 sales performance in the current year. Mercedes-Benz India achieved record sales of 17,408 units in 2023, marking a 10% growth over the previous year. This milestone not only represented the company’s highest-ever sales in India but also solidified its position as the leader in the Indian luxury car market for the ninth consecutive year.
Jan-Sep Sales
Additionally, Mercedes-Benz recorded its best-ever January-September year-to-date sales, with 14,379 units, marking a 13% growth compared to the previous year. The company saw an 84% increase in BEV sales during the same period, with approximately 6% of total sales coming from BEVs, and 140% growth in BEV sales during Q3 2024, he said.
Luxury BEVs
According to Iyer, over 800 luxury BEVs were sold in the January-September 2024 period, more than any other luxury brand in India. Top-end vehicles experienced an 18% growth, with one in four Mercedes-Benz cars sold being a top-end model.
Mercedes-Maybach sales surged by 125% year-to-date, attracting the most exclusive clientele. There has also been strong demand for the S-Class and Mercedes-Maybach S 580. Furthermore, the company's SUV portfolio, including models such as the GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS, played a key role in driving year-to-date sales growth, he added.
