Matter, a technology start-up, has unveiled what it claims to be India’s first geared electric motorcycle. The vehicle will be manufactured at the company’s Ahmedabad facility, and will be available across major cities in India.
The highlight of the product is the matterDrive 1.0, a propulsion system developed by the company that combines a 10.5 kW electric motor with the Matter Hypershift sequential manual transmission. The company claims to have patented its liquid cooling technology that simultaneously cools the rotor and stator, enabling faster heat withdrawal from the electric motor, even when the vehicle is not moving.
In addition, the motorcycle features a 5 kWh power pack called the matterEnergy 1.0 as well as an Integrated Intelligent Thermal Management System (IITMS).
The motorcycle supports both standard and fast charging through a common connector and is equipped with a standard onboard 1kW intelligent charger that the company calls matterCharge 1.0.
Also on offer with the Matter electric motorcycle are a bi-functional LED projector headlamp, a touch-enabled 7-inch vehicle instrument cluster, split LED tail lamps, body-integrated front turn signals, a translucent shroud, and an exposed spinner attached to the motor.
Mohal Lalbhai, Founder and Group CEO, Matter, said, “With many firsts, this motorbike will be leading us into the future that we all have dreamt about. Our vision has motivated us to challenge the status quo, remain persistent and resilient towards the goal, and walk a difficult path with agility.”
