Maruti Suzuki has upped its game in the warranty department by enhancing the numbers across the table. The standard warranty has been increased from two years/40,000km to three years/1,00,000km, which is now standard across all of Maruti’s line-up. This is applicable for all cars purchased after 9 July of this year
It has also brought in three new packages as part of the enhancement programme and they are:
Platinum Package: 4th year/1,20,000km |
Royal Platinum Package: 5th year/1,40,000km |
Solitaire Package: 6th year/1,60,000km |
The automaker, as a part of this enhancement, has also added what it calls 11 high-value parts to the extended warranty package. These parts were previously covered only under the standard warranty.
Commenting on the value addition, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, MSIL, said, “At Maruti Suzuki, we strive to have customers for life. In line with this commitment, we have enhanced our standard warranty coverage to three years or 1,00,000km to provide greater value to our customers. Furthermore, we have introduced extended warranty packages for up to six years or 1,60,000km and revised the scope of fourth-year and sixth-year extended warranty packages. The enhanced standard warranty and updated extended warranty packages will offer our customers added convenience and peace of mind, ultimately enhancing their overall ownership experience”.
While this is good news for future Maruti buyers, there is a second side we must look at – Maruti’s offer still doesn’t have that cherry on top in the form of seventh- and eighth-year warranties. Its biggest rival, Hyundai, offers this and in quite a customisable manner too, with individual programmes for its entire range of cars.
