Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that its Manesar facility has achieved a significant milestone crossing the production of 1 crore units. The milestone was reached with the roll-out of the compact SUV Brezza marking the fastest achievement of this scale among all Suzuki manufacturing plants globally. The Manesar facility reached this production landmark in 18 years reflecting the growth and efficiency of Maruti Suzuki's operations in India.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated that Maruti Suzuki’s extensive focus on local manufacturing of components has enabled the company to build a robust supply chain within India, contributing to the nation’s self-reliance in the automobile sector.
The Manesar facility began its operations in October 2006, is spread across 600 acres and has become a major production hub for Maruti Suzuki. The plant manufactures several models including the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, Dzire, Wagon R, S-Presso, and Celerio. These vehicles are not only sold in the domestic market but are also exported to regions like Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and neighbouring Asian countries. Baleno, Maruti Suzuki’s first passenger car to be exported to Japan, was produced at this facility.
Maruti Suzuki’s production capacity now stands at approximately 2.35 million units annually across its manufacturing facilities. Since its inception, the company has produced over 3.11 crore vehicles, making it a dominant player in India's automotive industry. In addition to its production capabilities, Maruti Suzuki has played a significant role in job creation, providing direct and indirect employment to millions of people through its extensive supply chain network.
