Maruti Suzuki India on Friday launched the S-CNG variant for its entry-level hatchback S-Presso. Available in two trim levels, LXI and VXI, the models have been priced at INR 5.9 lakh and INR 6.1 lakh (ex-showroom, India), respectively.
The S-Presso S-CNG gets powered by the Next Gen K-series 1.0L Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, developing a peak power output of 41.7kW (56.69PS) at 5,300 RPM and max torque of 82.1Nm at 3,400 RPM in CNG Mode. MSIL claims a fuel economy of 32.73 km/kg in the S-Presso CNG variants.
The carmaker has also tweaked the suspension setup to accommodate the vehicle's increased weight, a press release from MSIL stated.
It also gets dual-interdependent Electronic Control Units (ECU), an intelligent fuel injection system, stainless steel pipes and joints, and integrated wiring harnesses for the CNG system.
Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, noted that the company has a portfolio of 10 CNG vehicles with the S-Presso CNG.
He added that since its launch in 2019, the S-Presso has sold over 2.26 lakh units.
