Maruti Suzuki Re-Launches Alto K10 Based On 5thGen HEARTECH Platform

The carmaker has received bookings at an average of 200 units per day with more popularity for the top-end variants for the new Alto K10 since the booking window opened on August 10, 2022.

Maruti Suzuki India on Thursday re-launched the Alto K10 in an all-new avatar starting at INR 3.99 lakh ex-showroom, India for the base STD model.

Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India, noted that around 43.3 lakh units of the Alto have been sold over the last 22 years in different alterations and generations.

He confirmed that Maruti Suzuki has received bookings at an average of 200 units per day with more popularity for the top-end variants for the new Alto K10 since the booking window opened on August 10, 2022.

The new model features peppy headlamps with a signature honeycomb grille at the front, while the side profile of the Alto K10 features 13-inch steel rims with a honeycomb pattern on the wheel cover, and the rear gets dressed up with new combination tail lamps.

Additionally, for the exterior styling, Maruti Suzuki has offered two distinct personalisation packages for Alto K10: Impacto and Glinto. The Impacto package offers front and rear skid plates – colour accents, wheel arch cladding, body side moulding – black, door visor – smoke grey, ORVM cover and more.

While the Glinto offers front grille garnish, head lamp garnish, tail lamp garnish, door visor, and garnish inserts, among others.

The new avatar of Alto K10 sees a reduction in the overall length measuring 3,530mm,while the overall heigh has increased to 1,520 mm, and the width remains identical to the earlier generation Alto K10 at 1,490mm.

CV Raman, CTO, Maruti Suzuki, stated that the Alto K10 has been conceptualised, designed and developed in India. Based on the fifth generation HEARTECH platform, the new hatchback now packs in the next generation 1.0L K-Series petrol engine with dual VVT and dual jet technology. The new engine delivers 66.62PS at 5,500rpm and 89Nm of torque at 3,500rpm while returning a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.90 kmpl for the AGS variants and 24.39 km/l for the manual transmission variants.

On the inside, the new model has been updated with a 7-inch SmartPlay studio infotainment system featuring smartphone navigation and smartphone connectivity with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and other SmartPlay Studio apps, along with steering mounted audio controls, digital speedometer, front power window switches on the instrument panel and remote keyless entry to name a few.

While on the safety side, Maruti Suzuki claims to have added more than 15 features, including dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, pre-tensioner and force limiter front seat belts, and speed sensing auto door lock and high-speed alert, among others.

Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India, said, “Alto sales have grown among customers under 35 years of age from 37% in FY13 to 55% in FY22.”
