Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), as part of its CSR initiatives, has joined hands with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Utkrisht Society for Safe Haryana to implement an Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) in Gurugram.

The project, funded by Maruti Suzuki under its CSR initiatives, will see the installation and maintenance of ITMS by the company, which will be seamlessly integrated with GMDA's central traffic system. The collaboration was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Maruti Suzuki, GMDA, and Utkrisht Society for Safe Haryana.

Shyamal Misra, IAS, CEO, GMDA, acknowledged the challenges posed by Gurugram’s rapid development and rising traffic concerns, stating that Maruti Suzuki’s advanced traffic monitoring initiative will play a key role in detecting violations, strengthening law enforcement, and improving road safety.

Vikas Arora, IPS, Police Commissioner, Gurugram, emphasized the importance of surveillance in high-density traffic zones, noting that the new technology will enable digital enforcement, eliminate subjectivity in violation detection, and enhance crime prevention efforts.

Rahul Bharti, Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, expressed gratitude to GMDA and Gurugram Police for entrusting the company with this responsibility, stating that the initiative will support law enforcement efforts, encourage compliance, and promote a culture of safe driving. He also highlighted the urgent need for road safety measures, citing over 1.7 lakh road accident deaths in India in 2023, which translates to one fatality every three minutes. He emphasized that electronic traffic surveillance and strict enforcement will discourage reckless driving and significantly improve compliance over time.

With Maruti Suzuki leading this transformative traffic management initiative, Gurugram is set to witness a major leap in road safety, traffic discipline, and crime prevention, reinforcing its position as a progressive and well-managed urban hub.
