Maruti Suzuki India has launched the much-awaited Jimny SUV starting at INR 12.74 lakh, ex-showroom, India for the entry level Zeta MT variant. Available in Zeta and Alpha variants with automatic and manual transmission, the vehicle can also be bought at a monthly subscription rate of INR 33,550.
Powered by the 1.5L K-series petrol engine mated to either a five speed manual or a four speed automatic transmission, the Jimny produces 104.8 PS of power and 134.2 Nm of torque. The company claims a fuel efficiency of 16.94 km/l on the five-speed MT and 16.39 km/l on the four-speed AT variants.
From a chassis perspective, the lifestyle SUV gets a 3-link rigid axle suspension, ladder frame chassis, and ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) with low range transfer gear (4L mode).
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India said the company is bullish on the response that the Jimny has received from both prospective customers and critics alike.
“India holds a significant position for Suzuki Motor Corporation not only as a domestic market but also as a global export base,” said Takeuchi. India will serve as the mother plant for the Jimny (5-door) and will be the first market for its launch, he further added.
The Jimny cabin gets 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with “Surround Sense” powered by ARKAMYS. Additionally, the vehicle gets two accessory packages – Summit Seeker and Adventure Lifestyle.
Accessory Options
The Summit Seeker collection embodies the essence of exploration, said the company, “inspiring customers to conquer new terrains, scale new peaks with unwavering confidence”. This collection includes features such as front skid plates, fender garnish, illuminated door sill guards, interior styling kit, and more, adding a touch of boldness to your Jimny.
Meanwhile, the Adventure Lifestyle collection gets expedition tents and weather-resistant sleeping bags along with portable chairs, multipurpose knife and umbrellas. MSIL noted that the trademark RHINO logo associated with the Jimny “symbolises rugged strength and dynamic power that perfectly complement the legendary legacy of the Jimny”.
