Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced it is making the Electronic Stability Program+ (ESP) a standard safety feature across its entire range of cars. The latest models to benefit from this upgrade are the Alto K10 and S-Presso, which will now come equipped with this advanced safety technology at no additional cost to customers.
The ESP system works by counteracting a vehicle’s tendency to skid, ensuring it stays on its intended path. This is achieved through the integration of the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), and Stability Control (SC). The system relies on a series of sensors to monitor the vehicle’s movements, which are then analysed by an electronic control unit. If necessary, adjustments are made to the vehicle's trajectory to enhance stability and control.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated “The addition of Electronic Stability Program+ as a standard feature across the Maruti Suzuki product portfolio aligns with our endeavour to democratise advanced features. It significantly enhances the value proposition of our vehicles, ensuring our customers benefit from improved safety and driving confidence, no matter which model they opt for.'
In addition to the newly standardised ESP, Maruti Suzuki’s safety suite across its vehicles includes dual front airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), reverse parking sensors, an engine immobiliser and the HEARTECT platform.
