India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has announced yet another price increase across its entire model range today. The price hike, primarily due to rising input costs, will be effective from July 1, 2021.
This is the third time that the carmaker has increased prices of its vehicles in less than six months. Earlier the carmaker had revised car prices in April and January 2021.
In a regulatory filing to BSE, the compnay said, over the past year the cost of the company's vehicles continue to be adversely impacted due to increase in various input costs. Hence, it has become imperative for the company to pass on some impact of the above additional cost to customers through a price rise.”
“The price rise has been planned in the second quarter i.e July to September period and the increase shall vary for different models,” it added.
Maruti Suzuki had restarted its production in the last week of May after shutting down its factories and offices for over 20 days in the month of day due to rising coronavirus.
