Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is set to automate 12 additional driving test tracks across Uttar Pradesh as part of its road safety Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The company has entered into an agreement with the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department to further modernise the state's driving test infrastructure, building on an earlier collaboration that has already seen the automation of five tracks in key cities.
The new automated tracks will be located in Aligarh, two in Azamgarh, Basti, Bareilly, Gonda, Jhansi, Meerut, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, and Pratapgarh. These tracks will support the testing of two-wheelers, light motor vehicles (LMVs), and heavy motor vehicles (HMVs), making the process more streamlined and transparent. Each track will be equipped with high-definition cameras and an integrated IT system, allowing for 100% computerised evaluations.
This expansion follows the successful automation of test tracks in Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Mathura, Prayagraj, and Varanasi, which were completed as part of an agreement signed between MSIL and the Transport Department in December 2023. The automated system ensures that driving license applicants undergo a comprehensive and standardised test based on the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR). Results are auto-generated, eliminating human bias and ensuring transparency in the testing process.
This initiative is expected to improve road safety by providing more reliable and accurate assessments of driving skills, as well as making the process more efficient for both applicants and authorities. Maruti Suzuki’s efforts align with its commitment to road safety and driver training, aiming to ensure that drivers are better prepared to follow traffic regulations and contribute to safer roads.
