Maruti Suzuki Begins Export Of 'Made-in-India' SUV Fronx To Japan

The Fronx is the second model Maruti Suzuki is exporting to Japan, following the Baleno in 2016. Suzuki Motor Corporation, the parent company, plans to launch the Fronx in Japan in the autumn of 2024.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has commenced the export of its 'Made-in-India' SUV, Fronx, to Japan. This marks the first time the carmaker is launching an SUV in the Japanese market. The vehicles are being produced at the company's Gujarat plant, and the initial shipment of over 1,600 units has departed from Gujarat’s Pipavav port.

Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO of MSIL, stated, “Our export of the ‘Made-in-India’ Fronx to Japan reflects Maruti Suzuki’s ability to manufacture vehicles that meet international standards of technology, performance, safety, and quality. We are confident it will be well-received by Japanese customers.”

In terms of export performance, Maruti Suzuki, which holds a 42% share of India’s passenger vehicle exports, shipped over 2.8 lakh units to more than 100 countries in FY 2023-24. The company also achieved a record export of 70,560 units in Q1 FY 2024-25, marking its highest-ever first-quarter export figures.
