Marquardt Expands Presence In India With New State-of-the-Art Facility In Talegaon

Mechatronics specialist Marquardt has strengthened its footprint in India with the inauguration of a new manufacturing plant in Talegaon, near Pune.

Replacing its previous site in Mumbai, this ultra-modern facility significantly expands production capacity and enhances the company’s competitiveness in India's dynamic automotive market. With an investment exceeding INR 180 crore, the plant will focus on manufacturing advanced mechatronic system solutions for leading Indian automotive manufacturers.

Björn Twiehaus, CEO of the Marquardt Group, emphasized India’s strategic importance to the company, stating that India represents a high-growth market with immense potential. He highlighted Marquardt’s close collaboration with leading vehicle manufacturers and the expertise of its Indian team, adding that the new Talegaon plant marks a key milestone in the company’s expansion journey and reinforces its position as a global leader in mechatronic mobility solutions.

The expansion aligns with the ‘Make in India’ initiative, fostering local manufacturing, innovation, and employment. Vishal Narvekar, General Manager, Marquardt India, highlighted the company’s long-standing relationships with Indian automotive customers as a key driver for growth. He reiterated Marquardt’s commitment to delivering world-class mechatronic solutions tailored to Indian market needs while creating new opportunities for skilled professionals. Over the next five years, the new facility will generate around 300 additional jobs, further strengthening the local economy.

Advancing EV & Automotive Technologies

Equipped with cutting-edge assembly lines, in-house electronics production, and streamlined logistics, the Talegaon facility will produce drive authorization systems, gear selector switches, and battery management systems for electric vehicles. This investment is set to reduce supply chain dependencies, improve response times, and enhance production flexibility, positioning Marquardt as a key enabler of India’s evolving mobility landscape.

Marquardt has been active in India for decades, operating a development center in Pune with over 450 engineers, contributing to both local and global R&D projects. Dr Harald Marquardt, shareholder and board member, praised the innovation and efficiency of the Indian team, reaffirming Marquardt’s long-term commitment to India and its global customers. He expressed gratitude to the dedicated team whose perseverance made this expansion possible, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Marquardt’s success story in India.
