Mahindra Launches Seven Tractors Under OJA Range

The tractors will be produced in India and shipped across to six continents.

Mahindra Tractors has launched the OJA range with three models: MYOJA (intelligence pack), PROJA (productivity pack) and ROBOJA.

The tractors are priced at INR 564,500, ex-showroom,  for the OJA 2127 and INR 735,000 for the OJA 3140. They will be produced in India and shipped to six continents.

The new tractors are based on 3 OJA platforms, the subcompact, compact and small utility platforms, addressing diverse market needs. With 4WD as standard, Mahindra launched seven new tractor models for India on the compact and small utility platforms ranging from 20 to 40hp (14.91kW – 29.82kW).

The OJA range will subsequently be launched in North America, ASEAN, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Europe and the SAARC region. Mahindra will also mark its debut in ASEAN starting with Thailand in 2024.

According to the company, 75% of the tractor industry in the US is looking at a 60hp or more tractor while more than 90% of customers prefer compact tractors with a relevant industry of 1.75 lakh. A similar demand for compact tractors can be seen in the ASEAN region with a relevant demand of 70,000 units.

In India meanwhile, where the relevant market for OJA range is 1.25 lakh units, the usage will largely be in orchards and vineyards. The country has a growing demand for 4WD in tractors for paddy fields. 

Hemant Sikka, President – Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said the new OJA range of lightweight tractors is a powerhouse of energy, aimed at progressive farmers. 

He added that OJA tractors empower Mahindra to address 25% of the global tractor industry, while opening new markets like Europe and ASEAN. 

Vikram Wagh, CEO, Farm Division, M & M, said the OJA tractor range introduces a paradigm shift in Indian agriculture. 

OJA will be exclusively made in Zaheerabad, the youngest tractor manufacturing facility. The range will be available for customers in India starting October, Wagh added.

Derived from the Sanskrit word “Ojas”, meaning powerhouse of energy, OJA is Mahindra’s most ambitious global lightweight tractor platform, according to a press release . 

It was d eveloped in collaboration between the engineering teams of Mahindra Research Valley, India, the R&D centre for Mahindra AFS and Mitsubishi Mahindra Agriculture Machinery, Japan, at an investment of INR 1200 crore.

Alongside the introduction of the OJA range, Mahindra will enhance its network of over 1100 channel partners.
