Mahindra has achieved a historic milestone with its Electric Origins eSUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, earning the highest-ever 5-star safety ratings under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat-NCAP). These groundbreaking results establish new benchmarks for vehicle safety, marking a pivotal moment as the company advances into the electric era.

The XEV 9e achieved a perfect 32/32 score for adult occupant protection, complemented by an impressive 45/49 in child occupant protection tests. Similarly, the BE 6 delivered near-perfect results, scoring 31.97/32 for adult occupant protection and matching the XEV 9e’s child protection score. These achievements make the BE 6 and XEV 9e not only the safest electric vehicles (EVs) but also the safest SUVs currently on Indian roads.

R Velusamy, President of Automotive Technology and Product Development at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Joint Managing Director of Mahindra Electric Automobile, highlighted the significance of the achievement:

'The BE 6 and XEV 9e mark the start of a new era not only for Mahindra but also for automotive safety in India. Built on INGLO architecture and powered by the most advanced MAIA technology, these eSUVs redefine safety standards. The Bharat-NCAP results are a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive safety.”

A Legacy of Safety Excellence

The BE 6 and XEV 9e join Mahindra’s growing lineup of 5-star-rated vehicles, including the Thar ROXX, XUV 3XO, and XUV400 under Bharat-NCAP, and the XUV700 and Scorpio-N, which have earned similar accolades on the Global NCAP scale.

Revolutionary Safety Features

Both eSUVs are built on the state-of-the-art INGLO platform, which enhances safety through a lower centre of gravity by embedding the battery pack into the underbody. This structural design not only improves handling and stability but also forms a protective cage around the passenger cabin. Ultra-high-strength boron steel and reinforced frontal structures further ensure unparalleled crash safety.

The BE 6 and XEV 9e’s batteries have undergone rigorous testing for resilience under extreme conditions, prioritising safety as a core principle.

Complementing the INGLO platform is MAIA technology, which powers advanced active safety systems. The eSUVs feature a Level 2+ ADAS suite, offering capabilities such as:

  • Driver-initiated auto lane change
  • Emergency steering assist
  • Lane centring
  • Blind spot detection
  • Cross-traffic alerts
  • Front collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking

Additional advanced features include:

  • 360-degree camera with secure live view and recording
  • VisionX Augmented Reality Heads-up Display (HUD)
  • Seven airbags
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • Intelligent electronic brake booster
  • Electronic parking brake
  • Cornering lamps and auto booster lamps

Driving the Future of Safe Mobility

With the BE 6 and XEV 9e, Mahindra has set a new precedent in Indian automotive safety, aligning with the nation’s vision of safer, greener mobility. These vehicles represent a bold step forward, combining cutting-edge technology, rigorous safety measures, and sustainable design to redefine the eSUV experience for Indian consumers.
