Together, MGL and Nawgati aim to improve urban air quality and set a benchmark for eco-friendly fleet management while promoting sustainable practices in the region.

Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), a leading City Gas Distribution company in India, has joined forces with Nawgati, a homegrown fuel aggregator startup, to implement a fleet program as part of MGL CNG Mahotsav 2.0. This initiative aims to encourage fleet operators to transition to compressed natural gas (CNG), fostering sustainable growth and environmental benefits across Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad districts.

The MGL CNG Mahotsav 2.0 introduces substantial incentives for fleet operators investing in new commercial CNG vehicles or retrofitting existing ones. Rewards will be offered based on the type and tonnage of the vehicles, encouraging a shift from petrol and diesel to the cleaner alternative of CNG.

Nawgati's advanced digital platform will streamline this transition, enabling fleet operators to register on the MGL Fleet Platform. Operators can easily create accounts, add vehicles and drivers, and manage refueling operations at participating MGL CNG stations.

The partnership also introduces a dual payment solution accessible through the MGL Fuel Card, available in both physical and virtual forms. Fleet operators can pay for refuelling at MGL stations by tapping their cards at POS machines or digitally via the MGL Connect app or Nawgati Fuelling app. These payment options are available at participating MGL stations, including select BEST bus depots in Ghatkopar and Goregaon.

Vaibhav Kaushik, Co-founder and CEO of Nawgati, “This collaboration represents a step towards a greener future for Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad, with plans to expand nationally.”

Nawgati’s role as a technical partner involves supporting MGL's closed-loop payment system for fleet operators utilising the promotional scheme. This ensures smooth and efficient transactions at MGL stations, further encouraging CNG adoption and advancing environmental goals.

The collaboration also extends beyond the fleet programme. Earlier this year, Nawgati signed an MoU with MGL to integrate the MGL Tez app with the Nawgati Fuelling App. This integration allows commercial vehicle owners to preschedule refuelling slots at participating BEST bus depots, eliminating wait times and enhancing operational efficiency.
