Magna Expands Presence In India With New Plant In Chakan

Spanning 65,000 square feet, the plant is set to produce advanced latches and mirrors for the automotive sector, catering primarily to customers in western India.

Magna, one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers and mobility technology companies, has officially opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Chakan, Maharashtra.

With an already strong presence in India, employing 7,000 people across 14 manufacturing and assembly facilities, along with five engineering, product, and sales offices, Magna’s latest expansion underscores its commitment to the region. The new facility is expected to generate over 300 jobs in the next three years, further boosting local employment and industrial growth.

The inauguration ceremony, held yesterday, was marked by traditional rituals, followed by a formal ribbon-cutting and plaque unveiling by Jeff Hunt, President of Magna MML (Mechatronics, Mirrors, and Lighting), alongside Magna’s leadership team. The event marked a significant milestone in the company’s expansion journey in India.
