Maruti Suzuki India Limited marked a significant milestone with the unveiling of the Made-in-India Jimny 5-door in Japan. First showcased at Auto Expo 2023, the Jimny 5-door has quickly gained traction internationally and is now the second most exported model from Maruti Suzuki in FY 2024-25, following the Fronx, which was shipped to Japan in August 2024. This move further underscores Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to 'Make-in-India for the world.'

The Jimny has enjoyed over half a century of success, with more than 3.5 million units sold across 199 countries and regions. While the 3-door version was already available in Japan, the launch of the 5-door variant aims to further enhance its appeal. Suzuki is leveraging Maruti Suzuki’s production capabilities to cater to rising global demand, making India a key export hub for the iconic off-roader.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated, 'The introduction of the ‘Made-in-India’ Jimny 5-door in Japan is a testament to our world-class manufacturing excellence. It is our second model to be exported to Japan this fiscal year after Fronx. Jimny has already seen remarkable success in markets like Mexico, Australia, and South Africa, and we are confident that it will delight customers in Japan as well.'

Export Leadership In 2024

Maruti Suzuki maintained its dominance in India's passenger vehicle exports, shipping over 3.23 lakh vehicles to nearly 100 countries in CY2024, capturing a 43.5% share of India’s total passenger vehicle exports. The Fronx, introduced in Japan in August 2024, has already received an encouraging response, further solidifying the company’s presence in global markets.
