Lockheed Martin has received a Follow On Support II (FOS II) contract worth $ 328.8 million from the Indian Air Force (IAF) to support its fleet of 12 C-130J-30 ‘Super Hercules’ special mission and transport aircraft.
Rod McLean, Vice President & General Manager, Air Mobility & Maritime Missions, Lockheed Martin, “As the C-130 OEM, Lockheed Martin brings forth an outstanding team of experts who offer deep knowledge and unmatched insights of the C-130 to our operators.”
Lockheed Martin’s teams will manage the IAF’s C-130J fleet programme, logistics and engineering support elements under the five-year contract and is a continuation of a prior five-year FOS I contract.
The IAF has one of the most active C-130J fleets globally, and five of its Super Hercules aircraft will undergo depot maintenance (12-year servicing) at a Lockheed Martin-approved Heavy Maintenance Center (HMC) starting in 2022.
The company will provide on-site technical support for the duration of the contract and teams from Rolls-Royce, whose AE 2100D3 engines power the aircraft and General Electric (GE), which manufactures the engine propellor blades.
Lockheed Martin also sources C-130J empennage assemblies fitted on all new Super Hercules aircraft from Tata Lockheed Martin Aerostructures (TLMA) as its sole source supplier. TLMA has delivered over 120 empennages from its Hyderabad facility in its first decade of operations.
