LG Energy Solution Expands mobility outlook

LG Energy Solution has unveiled its new brand, 'B.around', dedicated to offering comprehensive Battery Management Total Solution (BMTS) services. This marks an important expansion for the company as it ventures further into battery management solutions aimed at enhancing safety and performance across various platforms, including software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

The B.around brand introduces a slogan, “Be Around Your Side”, reflecting LG Energy Solution’s commitment to staying close to customers, ensuring safer and more convenient battery use. The brand will deliver an array of battery management services, ranging from advanced diagnostics software to hardware solutions optimised for SDV platforms. This shift aims to enhance battery longevity, safety, and performance through constant monitoring of battery conditions, a significant upgrade from conventional battery management systems (BMS).

What sets B.around apart from traditional BMS offerings is its focus on tailored solutions for SDVs, using cutting-edge technologies like System-on-Chip (SoC), cloud computing, and AI. LG Energy Solution is collaborating with industry leaders, including Qualcomm Technologies, to develop these advanced features.

B.around’s suite of products includes both software and hardware components. The software is designed to pre-emptively detect potential issues, such as thermal events, and monitor battery degradation to extend battery life. These solutions, combined with the hardware developed by LG, provide a comprehensive safety net for battery systems. The brand draws on LG Energy Solution’s vast experience, having analysed over 130,000 battery cells and modules, and currently holds over 8,000 patents related to battery management systems.

The brand’s SDV-optimised solutions are expected to play a key role in the future of electric vehicles (EVs), offering unrivalled capabilities to global automakers. LG Energy Solution plans to market B.around products globally, with a focus on enhancing the customer experience through its deep expertise in battery technology.

Additionally, LG Energy Solution is promoting its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) business, using the B.around brand to extend its reach into the battery lifecycle management sector. By integrating BMTS technologies with BaaS offerings, the company aims to lead the way in providing end-to-end battery solutions.
