The collaboration focuses on leveraging Lenovo's latest autonomous driving domain controller, AD1, based on the NVIDIA DRIVE Thor platform with the new Blackwell architecture, optimised for transformer and generative AI tasks.

Lenovo Vehicle Computing and WeRide have joined forces in a strategic partnership to develop Level 4 autonomous driving solutions tailored for commercial applications.

The collaboration focuses on leveraging Lenovo's latest autonomous driving domain controller, AD1, based on the NVIDIA DRIVE Thor platform with the new Blackwell architecture, optimised for transformer and generative AI tasks. The system's training utilises NVIDIA's cutting-edge data centre AI solutions.

The AD1 controller will be integrated into WeRide One, a versatile autonomous driving solution platform, suitable for a wide array of urban-centric use cases. WeRide One offers a comprehensive stack of industry-leading application software, flexible hardware, and infrastructure software platform, incorporating features like vehicle specifications, functional safety, redundant safety design, fusion, and scalability.

Tony Han, CEO of WeRide, highlighted their unique position as the only technology company holding self-driving licenses across China, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore. He emphasised their extensive technical capabilities and commercial deployment experience, spanning from Level 2 to Level 4 autonomous driving. The collaboration with Lenovo Vehicle Computing and NVIDIA aims to deliver enhanced autonomous driving products, solutions, and services globally.

Donny Tang, VP and Head of Vehicle Computing at Lenovo, underscored Lenovo's AI for All strategy and expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with WeRide and NVIDIA to explore new avenues for self-driving technology adoption.

Rishi Dhall, VP of Automotive at NVIDIA, highlighted the performance and architecture of the NVIDIA DRIVE Thor platform, powered by the new Blackwell architecture for generative AI. This partnership aims to empower Lenovo Vehicle Computing and WeRide in building and deploying safe and reliable autonomous vehicles for commercial use.
