Lectrix EV, the electric vehicle division of the SAR Group, has launched an electric two-wheeler (E2W) priced at a mere INR 49,999. This initiative positions Lectrix EV as India's first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to segregate the battery from the scooter, offering it to consumers via a unique subscription service.
This innovative model is a boon for value-conscious consumers, simplifying electric vehicle (EV) ownership. By opting for the battery subscription at just INR 1,499 per month, customers can enjoy all the benefits of an EV at nearly 40% less cost. This strategic move not only aligns with India's Net Zero 2070 ambition but also paves the way for a more sustainable and accessible EV market.
The new Lectrix E2W stands out with its exceptional range of 100 kilometres on a single charge and a top speed of 50 kmph, coupled with a lifetime battery warranty, an offer unparalleled in the Indian market. This warranty alleviates common concerns around battery longevity and performance, setting a new benchmark in the industry.
Pritesh Talwar, President of the EV Business at Lectrix EV, emphasised the affordability and economic efficiency of this launch, stating, 'Our new E2W redefines affordability, offering a high-speed EV at the cost typically associated with slower EVs. This strategic pricing is designed to reduce dependence on government subsidies, providing a sustainable model for both OEMs and consumers.'
Talwar further highlighted the transformative nature of their offering, explaining, 'Our Battery on Subscription model is a game-changer, offering significant cost benefits over internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Considering the rising fuel prices and maintenance costs of ICE vehicles, our subscription plan emerges as a more economical and environmentally friendly alternative.'
