Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has announced that it has been honoured as the ‘Top Exporter 2023-2024’ by the Mumbai Port Authority, recognising the company’s contribution to India’s vehicle exports and its enduring commitment to the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
With a legacy of exporting made-in-India cars for over two decades, SAVWIPL has shipped more than 675,000 vehicles to over 26 countries across Asia, Africa, and North America. In FY 2023–24 alone, the Group exported over 43,000 vehicles, including popular models such as the Volkswagen Virtus, Taigun, and Škoda Kushaq, marking a robust 20% year-on-year growth, with exports accounting for 40% of total production.
Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO, SAVWIPL., said, “We remain focused on strengthening India’s role as a global export hub and are grateful to the port authorities, partners, and teams that made this success possible.”
Beyond vehicle exports, the company has expanded its global footprint by exporting parts and components to Vietnam from its Pune-based Parts Expedition Centre, enabling local vehicle assembly and further boosting India’s manufacturing influence in the region.
