Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has achieved a significant milestone in the automotive industry by securing the coveted Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Platinum certification for its Parts Expedition Centre in Chakan, Pune. This accolade underscores SAVWIPL's unwavering commitment to eco-conscious practices and sets a new standard for green manufacturing warehouses in India.
The newly certified facility, designed to support the export of CKD parts for assembly in Vietnam, showcases a range of sustainable features aimed at reducing environmental impact. From solar power generation to energy-efficient lighting and water conservation measures, the centre embodies SAVWIPL's dedication to sustainability at every stage of its operations. Notably, the integration of vertical gardens within the facility's footprint demonstrates innovative space-saving solutions without compromising operational efficiency.
Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, expressed delight at the recognition, highlighting the company's ethos of environmental stewardship. He emphasised that sustainability remains at the core of SAVWIPL's operations, with initiatives such as sourcing 100 percent Green Energy for car manufacturing and utilising renewable energy to power a significant portion of the Pune plant's operations.
With a vision outlined in its Corporate Strategy 2032, the company is poised to further enhance its reliance on renewable energy sources across its manufacturing facilities. The Platinum rating awarded by the IGBC not only recognises SAVWIPL's current accomplishments but also underscores its rigorous approach to sustainable development throughout the project lifecycle.
