Kinetic Group has announced the readiness of its advanced battery manufacturing facility in Ahmednagar. With an investment of INR 50 crore, the facility marks the company's foray into EV battery production, introducing the Range-X brand of high-performance battery packs for two- and three-wheeler electric vehicles (EVs).

The Ahmednagar plant features a state-of-the-art manufacturing setup with an annual production capacity of 60,000 battery packs. It will manufacture both Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery types, catering to a broad range of electric two- and three-wheelers. Kinetic Group intends to supply these batteries to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) beyond its own brands.

The Range-X batteries incorporate advanced LFP technology, known for its stable chemical composition that minimises the risk of thermal runaway, making them highly durable under extreme temperatures. These batteries feature Smart Battery Management System (BMS) integration, improving efficiency and battery health.

The facility will also produce NMC batteries, offering high energy density for longer-lasting power. These batteries provide superior performance with high charge-discharge rates, ensuring reliable operation even under demanding conditions. The production of prismatic cells for three-wheelers is another step towards localising battery technology and reducing dependence on imports.

Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Kinetic Group, highlighted that by integrating automation and smart technology, Kinetic Group aims to offer efficient, reliable, and clean energy solutions.

The automated production line at the facility incorporates IoT-enabled POKE-YOKE systems and stage-wise inspections, ensuring precision, quality, and safety at every level of manufacturing. The facility adheres to industry standards including AIS 156 and AIS 004, reinforcing compliance with the highest safety and performance benchmarks. Furthermore, Kinetic Group is actively working on localising battery management system (BMS) technology under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, in alignment with the PM E-Drive initiative for the Make in India programme.
