At the CEO Investor Day event, Kia presented updates to its mid-to-long-term business strategy, emphasising a strong commitment to electrification and the expansion of its PBV (Purpose Built Vehicle) business. With a keen eye on the rapidly evolving global mobility industry landscape, Kia is refining its 2030 strategy to align with emerging trends and customer preferences.
One of the key highlights of Kia's updated strategy is the ambitious sales target of 4.3 million units annually by 2030, representing a significant increase from its 2024 goal of 3.2 million units. Central to this target is the aim to sell 1.6 million electric vehicles (EVs) annually by 2030, reflecting the automaker’s dedication to leading the charge towards sustainable transportation solutions.
In line with its commitment to electrification, the company plans to bolster its position as a leading EV brand by prioritising the sale of electrified models, including hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), and battery EVs. The company aims for electrified model sales to comprise 58% of its total sales by 2030, with an estimated 2.48 million units sold annually.
Ho Sung Song, President and CEO of Kia, underscored the company's strategic focus on innovation and sustainability, stating that the company is committed to driving positive change in the mobility sector by accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and delivering sustainable mobility solutions. “Our updated 2030 strategy reflects our unwavering dedication to meeting the evolving needs of customers and contributing to the wellbeing of communities and the environment,' he added.
Kia's unveiling of its updated 2030 strategy marks a significant milestone in its journey towards becoming a leader in the global automotive industry's transition to electrification and sustainable mobility.
