The Korean carmaker, Kia Motors, on Thursday announced that it has exported one lakh cars from India.
Starting with the Seltos in 2019, the company has shipped an accumulated 101,734 vehicles till now, a statement from the company said.
The company has exported its mid-size SUVs to 91 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Central and South America, Mexico, and Asia-Pacific regions, with Seltos and Sonet accounting for 77% and 23% of total exports respectively.
Tae-Jin- Park, MD & CEO, Kia India, said, 'India is a strategic geography for Kia Corporation, not only in terms of sales but also in terms of developing India as a manufacturing and export hub. To meet the world's growing demand for SUVs, our hi-tech Anantapur plant has become one of the most critical production hubs for compact and medium-sized SUVs.'
According to the press release, in CY2021, the company shipped 46,261 units, registering a 23% Y-o-Y increase in exports. It also became the number one UV exporter in the country, with a market share of over 25%, the company said.
Furthermore, the brand also ranked third in the overall PV segment, acquiring a market share of close to 9%, the release added.
