Kia India has announced that with its RDE-compliant diesel models, the company has done away with manual transmission and has replaced them with a six-speed iMT. With the new diesel engine, the Sonet starts at INR 10.69 lakh, ex-showroom, India, while the Seltos and the Carens start at INR 12.39 lakh and INR 12.65 lakh, respectively.

A press release from the company noted that providing 6iMT as standard will transform the diesel driving experience, which is considered highly inconvenient due to heavy clutch usage and India’s traffic and road conditions.

The company noted that one out of every five Seltos and one of every three Sonet sold in 2022 were iMT editions.

Tae-Jin Park, MD and CEO, Kia India, noted that as per the company’s deep research and customer feedback, it was found that India loves a clutch-free, thrilling driving experience that allows them to navigate the growing traffic on the roads without restricting their long commutes.
