Kia India has introduced the all-new Syros, positioning it between the Sonet compact and mid-size Seltos. With a starting price of INR 8.99 lakh (all prices ex-showroom), the vehicle seeks to create a niche in the increasingly competitive urban SUV market. The Syros takes inspiration from Kia’s higher-end models, including the EV9 and Carnival, while offering a mix of technology, comfort, and bold design to appeal to modern consumers.

The SUV is available in two engine options: a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine delivering 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Both engines are available with manual and automatic transmission options, including Kia’s first-ever Smartstream G1.0 turbo GDI with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Syros will be offered in four trims—HTK, HTK+, HTX, and HTX+—with eight exterior colour options.

Pricing is structured to cater to different budgets and feature preferences. The base HTK trim, available with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, starts at INR 8.99 lakh. The HTK(O) variant, which adds a sunroof and alloy wheels, is priced at INR 9.99 lakh. The HTK+ version, featuring a panoramic sunroof and rear seat ventilation, costs INR 11.49 lakh for the manual transmission and INR 12.79 lakh for the automatic version. The HTX variant, which includes LED headlamps and leatherette seats, is priced at INR 13.29 lakh for the manual and INR 14.59 lakh for the automatic. The fully loaded HTX+ trim, equipped with features such as a smart dashcam, electric parking brake, and ambient lighting, is priced at INR 15.99 lakh.

For diesel variants, the HTK(O) with a 1.5-litre engine and manual transmission is priced at INR 10.99 lakh, while the HTK+ costs INR 12.49 lakh. The HTX variant is available at INR 14.29 lakh, and the fully loaded HTX+ diesel automatic is priced at INR 16.99 lakh.

One of the key selling points of the Syros is its industry-first Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, allowing remote updates to 16 controllers without requiring a dealership visit. The vehicle also integrates Kia Connect 2.0, which offers more than 80 smart features for seamless connectivity. To further enhance customer convenience, Kia introduces Kia Connect Diagnosis (KCD) for remote vehicle diagnostics and Kia Advanced Total Care (KATC), which proactively informs owners about required vehicle services.

Designed with comfort in mind, the Syros features a spacious 2,550mm wheelbase and a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display, serving as a connected car navigation system. Additional highlights include a 5-inch climate control display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Harman Kardon premium 8-speaker sound system, rear seat ventilation, and sliding and reclining rear seats. A dual-pane panoramic sunroof further enhances the cabin experience.

On the safety front, the Syros is equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), incorporating 16 autonomous features, including smart cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, front collision warning, lane keep assist, and a 360-degree camera. Other key safety elements include six airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, and an anti-lock braking system (ABS).

Bookings for the Syros have commenced at a starting price of INR 25,000, available both at Kia dealerships and online. The top-trim models, featuring ADAS, come at an additional cost of INR 80,000.
