Kia India, making significant strides in the Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBVs) segment, has successfully delivered 71 specially customised Kia Carens units to the Punjab Police. After marking its entry into the PBV domain at the Auto Expo 2023, Kia showcased the Carens as Purpose-Built Vehicles at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, solidifying its commitment to diverse mobility requirements for specialised institutions in India.
The Kia Carens emerged as the preferred mobility choice for the Punjab Police due to its connected features, larger wheelbase, and improved third-row comfort. The customisation of these Carens units caters specifically to the requirements of the police force.
Equipped with a Smartstream 1.5 Petrol engine paired with a 6-speed Manual transmission, the PBVs feature custom High-Intensity Strobe lights, PA Systems, and distinctive 'Dial 112 - Emergency Response Vehicle' Decals. A higher capacity battery of 60Ah powers the additional equipment. Noteworthy is the Carens' largest-in-segment wheelbase, making it a practical choice for Police Departments.
Addressing practicality, the specially designed Carens boasts a 2nd row 60:40 split, 3rd row 55:50 split, adjustable headrests for all rows, a 12V Power Socket, and five USB Type-C Ports, providing utmost flexibility to Punjab Police Officials. Incorporating the latest technologies, the PBV features a High Strength Steel structure, All Wheel Disc Brakes, ABS, Idle Stop & Go, and TPMS.
Myung-sik Sohn, Chief Sales and Business Officer at Kia India, commented on the delivery, stating, 'Purpose-Based Vehicles (PBVs) represent the future of mobility as they offer the possibility of extensive customisation to meet specific mobility requirements. With strategic partnerships like this, we aim to broaden the appeal of a family mover like Carens to all institutions looking for a 7-seater mobility solution”.
