JSW MG Motor India, in collaboration with LICO Materials, a division of Epsilon Group, has launched an advanced Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) as part of its sustainability initiative, ‘Project Revive.’
Offering four times the lifespan of conventional solutions and reducing operational costs by up to 60%, the BESS marks a significant step toward clean energy adoption in India.
This latest initiative is JSW MG Motor India’s fourth pilot project under ‘Project Revive,’ aimed at extending the life of EV batteries beyond their primary usage. The system enhances grid stability, reduces dependency on fossil fuels, and optimizes renewable energy utilization, making it a crucial step in the country’s energy transition.
LICO Materials, known for its expertise in end-of-life battery recycling and refurbishing, has played a key role in developing three BESS models with storage capacities of 18kWh, 100kWh, and 300kWh. Designed to serve residential, commercial, and industrial needs, these models feature immersion oil cooling, smart thermal management, and multi-layered safety mechanisms, ensuring efficient operation across extreme temperatures (-20°C to 60°C). Each system comes with a five-year warranty, reinforcing long-term reliability.
Neha Jain, Head of EV and Innovation Ecosystem, JSW MG Motor India, highlighted the importance of ‘Project Revive,’ stating, “This initiative is a step towards creating a sustainable EV ecosystem by giving batteries a second life. Our partnership with LICO Materials demonstrates our commitment to developing energy storage solutions that integrate advanced technology with environmental responsibility.”
Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Carbon, said, “Project Revive and LICO’s LiGRID system are redefining energy storage, making a lasting impact on how power is harnessed and utilized.”
Gaurav Dolwani, Founder & CEO of LICO Materials, added, “Our LiGRID series reflects our vision of a greener circular economy by repurposing end-of-life batteries, minimizing waste, and enhancing sustainability.”
JSW MG Motor India's Legacy of Sustainable Innovations
The launch of the BESS unit follows a series of sustainability-driven EV battery recycling initiatives under ‘Project Revive.’ Previously, the company partnered with:
- Vision Mechatronics for India’s first high-voltage UPS for industrial applications.
- BATX and IIT Delhi to develop a 100% off-grid charging station (Feb 2024).
- Lohum and TERI to deploy a 5kWh BESS unit for a school in Nainital (Aug 2024).
With this latest initiative, JSW MG Motor India continues to pioneer sustainable mobility solutions, reinforcing its commitment to India’s clean energy transformation.
