Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has launched its latest Open Innovation Hub in India, aimed at collaborating with startups to shape the future of mobility through next-gen products and services. This new initiative builds on the success of JLR's existing hubs in the UK, US, Israel, and Brazil, reinforcing the company’s commitment to fostering innovation globally.

By engaging with India’s rapidly evolving tech ecosystem, JLR aims to develop transformative solutions like optimising batteries for electric vehicles, identifying ideal charging infrastructure locations, and enhancing ADAS capabilities.

In partnership with Plug and Play, a corporate innovation platform and investor, the India Hub will act as a convergence point for industry leaders, academia, government bodies, and other stakeholders. The goal is to accelerate the creation of pioneering solutions that align with JLR’s vision for enhanced client experiences and sustainable mobility.

Since the launch of its Open Innovation Programme in April 2022, JLR has interacted with over 2,500 startups globally, resulting in 33 formal collaborations. Notable outcomes include the reuse of JLR’s electric vehicle batteries as second-life energy storage solutions and the launch of Brazil’s first solar-powered EV charging station. This global network aims to harness diverse talent and innovative ideas, supporting JLR's engineering teams in enhancing vehicle design, features, and customer experiences.

India, with its thriving startup ecosystem provides an ideal location for the newest hub. By connecting to India’s deep tech resources, JLR intends to fast-track innovation in areas of engineering, customer service, and sustainability.

Igor Murakami, JLR’s Innovation Director, highlighted, “Quality and innovation are the cornerstones of our business. With this new hub, we aim to tap into India’s deep tech ecosystem to explore groundbreaking possibilities focused on engineering and sustainability. The hub will serve as a dedicated platform for disruptors, helping us bring scalable, impactful solutions to market.”

Lalitha Indrakanti, CEO of JLR Technology & Business Services India, added, “This collaboration with Plug and Play strengthens our global mobility ecosystem, empowering innovators to redefine the future of mobility while delivering on JLR’s commitment to exceptional customer experiences.”
