JLR has strengthened its partnership with Tata Communications to introduce advanced connectivity features in its next-generation vehicles. The collaboration is set to leverage Tata Communications MOVE platform to deliver seamless connectivity and smarter, data-driven solutions for customers worldwide, including coverage in remote locations across 120 countries.
The partnership builds on JLR’s commitment to innovation and its strategy to enhance vehicle connectivity through the adoption of advanced digital technologies. By integrating Tata Communications MOVE, JLR’s future medium-sized electric SUVs, based on the Electric Modular Architecture (EMA), will transition effortlessly between mobile networks, ensuring uninterrupted access to personalised services like media streaming and software over-the-air (SOTA) updates.
This collaboration marks a step forward in redefining connectivity within the automotive sector. The MOVE platform will enable secure data exchange, allowing JLR to update vehicle systems remotely, introduce advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and gain real-time insights into vehicle performance. According to JLR, their fleet already generates over 2.5 terabytes of data daily, with half a million electronic control units updated monthly. The partnership will further enhance this data flow, offering cost-effective vehicle diagnostics and maintenance to owners.
Mark Brogden, Director of Digital Product Platform Off-Board, JLR, stated “This partnership advances our journey into software-defined vehicles, ensuring reliable, secure, and cost-effective connectivity. Starting in 2026, our new luxury SUVs will deliver continuous connected experiences and frequent over-the-air updates, meeting the high expectations of our customers.”
Marco Bijvelds, Vice President, Tata Communications MOVE, mentioned that the platform would enable JLR to deliver smarter driving features and open doors to new revenue opportunities through insights derived from data. The solution will offer tailored connectivity options, enabling families to access applications and vehicle features globally without disruption.
