Updated Jeep Meridan will be launched in India later this year

Somewhat hot on the heels of the updated Jeep Wrangler (launching on 25 April) will be an updated version of the Jeep Meridian. Much like the 2024 Wrangler, the upgrades are a mix of features and design elements. Jeep’s been tightlipped about the upgrades for the India model. However, we now have an idea as the 2025 Commander (Meridian’s sister car in Brasil) has got some new features and that’s given us a hint of what we can expect in India.

Level-2 ADAS

The biggest addition will be level-2 ADAS, something that Meridian is missing and desperately needs if it wants to keep up with the cars around it. The list includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic braking, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, fatigue alert, and adaptive headlamps.

Blackhawk package

The other big update that looks quite promising if it comes to India will be a Blackhawk package. It’s an all-black exterior package with chrome elements joining the package. There’s good potential for this design package thanks to cars like the Tata Safari Dark and the MG Hector Plus Darkstorm both of which take on the same philosophy.

Powertrains

The India-spec Meridian will continue with the 2.0-litre diesel that produces 168bhp/350Nm and can be had in both 4x4 and 4x2 drivetrain options. This engine can be had with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic.

The Meridian is Jeep’s three-row competitor but sits significantly higher when compared to cars like the Alcazar, Hector Plus, and even the Tata Safari, in fact, it’s closer to cars like the Hyundai Tucson, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, and the Toyota Fortuner.
