Jeep India Starts Production Of The Meridian from Its Ranjangaon Facility

Based on the Group’s SW Architecture, the new SUV has the potential for exports to other right-hand drive markets

The American SUV maker, Jeep India announced the commencement of production for the Meridian seven seater from its JV manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon. While bookings have also commenced for the new seven seater at INR 50,000.

Based on the Group’s SW Architecture, the new SUV has the potential for exports to other right-hand drive markets, a press release from the company stated.

Roland Bouchara, CEO and Managing Director, Stellantis India said that the Meridian is the third new model manufactured in India since 2021 as part of Jeep’s product offensive. 

Further it will feature up to 82% localisation and has been specially designed, engineered, and tuned for Indian road conditions keeping in mind the refinement expected by customers in the segment, he added.

Nipun J Mahajan, Head of Jeep Brand India, added 'The Meridian has been subjected to rigorous testing of over 10,00,000 KMs, to ensure its durability and consistent performance.” 

Available only with the 2.0L turbo-diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual or a nine-speed AT, the seven-seater is offered in an FWD or an AWD configuration with a power output of 168Hp and 350Nm of torque.

The company claims that the vehicle can reach 100 kmph from zero in 10.8 seconds with a power to weight ratio of 95Ps/tonne and a top speed of 198 kmph.
