Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) has outlined an ambitious roadmap for 2025, focusing on innovation, resilience, and teamwork to navigate a rapidly evolving global landscape. At its annual New Year’s Address, held at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang near Seoul, Executive Chair Euisun Chung emphasised the Group’s commitment to overcoming challenges and seizing new opportunities.

Addressing an audience of over 200 employees, with many more joining via livestream, Executive Chair Chung acknowledged the accomplishments of 2024 while urging the Group to remain proactive in the face of uncertainty. “Innovation is in Hyundai Motor Group’s DNA. If we continue to embrace change and pursue innovation, we can overcome any test or difficulty,” said Chung.

Confronting Challenges With Strategy, Innovation

Chung categorised the Group’s challenges as predictable and unexpected, advocating thorough preparation and adaptable processes to tackle both. Predictable challenges, he explained, require a comprehensive understanding of trends and context to turn risks into growth opportunities. Unexpected challenges demand agility, objective analysis, and unified action to maintain momentum.

Highlighting the appointment of José Muñoz as Hyundai Motor’s first non-Korean CEO, Chung reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to fostering a global, inclusive culture. “This milestone underscores our dedication to recognising talent regardless of nationality, gender, or background,” said Chung.

Innovation - A Catalyst For Growth

With geopolitical uncertainties, technological advancements, and shifting consumer preferences reshaping the mobility landscape, 2025 will be a year of complex dynamics. Chung stressed that challenges should be viewed as opportunities to innovate, cautioning against complacency. “Challenges can sharpen awareness and drive action. Hyundai Motor Group has successfully navigated challenges in the past and emerged stronger. We will do the same again,” he said.

The Group’s strategy for 2025 includes strengthening its position as a global mobility leader through strategic investments, industrial leadership, and collaboration with partners. A roundtable discussion followed the address, where key executives openly explored the Group’s goals and strategies for the year ahead.

Closing the event, Chung underscored the importance of Hyundai Motor Group’s workforce. “Our greatest asset is our people. Their talent and resilience mean we do not retreat when faced with adversity – we innovate,” he said. “Together, we will continue to strengthen our vision and shape a brighter, more sustainable future.”
