IndiGo has started using a new and faster passenger disembarkation process. In a release, the airline announced it had introduced a “Three-Point Disembarkation” process, in which both forward exits and one rear exit is used for deboarding passengers.

The new disembarkation procedure will be initially implemented on IndiGo’s A320 and A321 jetliners on flights arriving at remote stands at Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru airports.

IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta said it was a matter of pride for the airline to be the first in the world to use a three-point system. “At IndiGo, we constantly and dynamically keep reinventing our internal standards to enable a hassle-free customer experience as well as contributing to operational efficiencies for all stakeholders including airport operators and ground handling companies.”

Sanjveev Ramdas, Executive Vice President, IndiGo, said adding a third ramp for disembarkation was a simple yet effective way to complete a smooth travel experience for its customers.

IndiGo stated that initial feedback from customers after trials had been encouraging. This procedure will be progressively deployed across IndiGo’s network.
