IndiGo has entered into a finance lease with global aircraft lessor BOC Aviation for ten Airbus A320neo single-aisle jetliners. IndiGo is slated to take delivery of these aircraft, powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines, this year.
Riyaz Peer Mohamed, Chief Aircraft Acquisition and Financing Officer, IndiGo, said the extended collaboration with BOC Aviation was part of its expansion strategy across domestic and international markets. “India is currently among the fastest growing civil aviation markets in the world, and these aircraft will help IndiGo consolidate its position in the region,” he said.
IndiGo currently has a fleet of over 300 aircraft and operates 1,900 daily flights, connecting to 79 domestic destinations and will soon grow its footprint to 32 international destinations.
Steven Townend, Deputy Managing Director and CFO, BOC Aviation, said the lease deal with their long-time customer would enable IndiGo to expand its fleet with the latest technology aircraft.
Singapore-headquartered BOC Aviation is a global aircraft operating leasing company with a fleet of 652 aircraft owned, managed and on order. BOC Aviation’s owned and managed fleet has been leased to 91 airlines in 42 countries.
