India’s leading airline IndiGo has extended the component support contract for its A320 family fleet with Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M), a leading Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) provider.
Under the terms of the latest contract, AFI KLM E&M will set up a Main Base Kit (MBK) at IndiGo’s operations hub in Delhi, along with providing a range of services, including component repairs, access to a dedicated pool of spares and logistics support.
Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, President and CEO of IndiGo, said, “The high standard of support already provided by AFI KLM E&M over many years, together with their unique expertise on the A320 product both as an airline and MRO, convinced us to continue placing our trust in them.”
The long-term component support contract covers over 350 aircraft. IndiGo began its partnership with AFI KLM E&M for A320 fleet component support, later adding its ATR fleet in 2017.
“We are very pleased with IndiGo’s decision to extend our long-term partnership. The extension marks another milestone in our strategy to strengthen our leadership position in the A320neo market segment and to further develop our regional MRO footprint in the Asia Pacific region,” said Dominik Wiener-Silva. AFI KLM E&M VP Sales Asia Pacific.
To support the Indian market, the MRO provider also has set up a local MRO joint venture Max MRO Services (MMS), in Mumbai.
IndiGo’s aircraft fleet continues to grow and in 2019 placed orders for 300 A320neo, A321neo and A321XLRs. It presently operates a fleet of 284 A320 family jetliners and ATR regional transport aircraft.
